Social Media Research, Strategy & Content With Claude AI
SECTION 1 SOCIAL MEDIA STRATEGY FOR NIGERIAN BUSINESSES
Build a complete, platform-appropriate social media strategy for your business or personal brand using Claude — grounded in how Nigerian audiences actually behave on social media.
Lesson 1 Understanding Nigerian Social Media Behavior and Platform Dynamics
Level: Beginner
Short Description
Get a research-backed understanding of how Nigerians use each major social media platform — who uses each one, what they engage with, and what this means for your content strategy.
Full Description
Social media strategy in Nigeria requires understanding the specific ways Nigerians use each platform — which is often quite different from how Western social media advice assumes people behave. This lesson gives you that understanding, grounded in the actual behavior of Nigerian social media users.
WhatsApp is not usually discussed as a social media platform, but for Nigerian businesses it is the most important one. Nigerians use WhatsApp for business communication, group discussions, broadcast lists, and customer service more extensively than most other markets. WhatsApp Business (the free app for small businesses) allows you to maintain a product catalogue, set up automated responses, send broadcast messages to opted-in customers, and manage customer conversations with labels and filters. Any Nigerian business ignoring WhatsApp is ignoring its most direct customer communication channel.
Instagram is Nigeria's primary visual commerce and personal branding platform. Nigerian users skew toward the 18-35 age range, are highly visual, and respond strongly to aspirational content, behind-the-scenes content, social proof (testimonials, results), and content that reflects Nigerian cultural identity. Business categories that perform exceptionally well on Nigerian Instagram include fashion, food, real estate, beauty, events, and any category where results are visually demonstrable.
Facebook in Nigeria serves a different but still very significant role — it reaches an older demographic than Instagram, is used heavily for community groups and marketplace, and is the platform of choice for political content, religious content, and community engagement. Nigerian businesses targeting people above 35 or operating in mass-market categories should not underestimate Facebook.
LinkedIn in Nigeria is growing fast as a professional networking and B2B platform. Nigerian professionals are increasingly active on LinkedIn for job searching, industry discussion, and B2B marketing. For service businesses, consultancies, and professionals marketing themselves for employment or clients, LinkedIn is essential.
TikTok is the fastest-growing platform among Nigerian Gen Z users (15-25). For consumer brands targeting young Nigerians, TikTok requires a very different type of content — authentic, fast-paced, trend-responsive, and entertainment-forward.

Lesson 2 Building Your Social Media Strategy with Claude
Level: Beginner
Short Description
Use Claude to develop a complete, 90-day social media strategy for your business — covering platform selection, content pillars, posting schedule, and growth tactics tailored to your Nigerian audience.
Full Description
A social media strategy is a written plan that specifies what platforms you will use, what you will post, how often, who you are talking to, and what you want to achieve. Without a strategy, social media activity is haphazard — you post when you feel like it, without consistency or clear purpose, and results are unpredictable.
With a strategy, every piece of content serves a purpose and contributes toward defined goals.
Claude builds social media strategies by helping you think through and document five key elements: your goal (brand awareness, lead generation, customer retention, direct sales, recruitment, or a combination), your target audience (who they are, what they care about, what platforms they use, what content they respond to), your content pillars (the three to five topic areas your brand will consistently create content about), your posting cadence (how many times per week on which platforms), and your growth tactics (how you will build your audience organically).
The content pillars concept is particularly important and often misunderstood. Content pillars are the main themes your brand talks about consistently — and they should serve both your audience's interests and your business goals simultaneously. For a real estate company, content pillars might be: Property Education (teaching people about the buying process), Market Updates (keeping people informed about Lagos/Abuja real estate trends), Client Success Stories (social proof), Behind the Scenes (building trust), and Property Listings (direct sales). Notice that only one of five pillars is directly selling — the rest build trust and audience so that when you do sell, people are already warm.
Claude can help you define your content pillars, develop the types of content for each pillar, and build out a 30-day content calendar showing exactly what to post each day. This transforms social media from a vague obligation into an organized, manageable weekly work plan.
What Students Will Learn
· Define your social media goal and translate it into measurable monthly targets
· Describe your target audience in the specific detail needed for effective content planning
· Develop three to five content pillars that serve both your audience and your business goals
· Build a realistic posting cadence you can maintain alongside your other responsibilities
· Create a 30-day content calendar with Claude specifying a post topic for every scheduled day
· Define organic growth tactics appropriate for your platform and audience
Lesson Requirements
· A working Claude account
· Completion of the previous lesson on Nigerian platform dynamics
· A business or personal brand to build a strategy for
· No marketing experience required

SECTION 2 CREATING SOCIAL MEDIA CONTENT WITH CLAUDE
Generate high-quality, platform-appropriate social media content for any platform — from Instagram captions to LinkedIn articles to WhatsApp broadcast messages.
Lesson 3 Writing Instagram and Facebook Content That Engages Nigerian Audiences
Level: Beginner
Short Description
Use Claude to write scroll-stopping Instagram captions and engaging Facebook posts tailored specifically for Nigerian audiences — with the cultural references, tone, and calls-to-action that drive real engagement.
Full Description
Writing social media content that resonates with Nigerian audiences requires understanding what Nigerians engage with — and it is not the same as what works in the United States or UK. Nigerian social media audiences respond strongly to authenticity, to content that acknowledges Nigerian realities and challenges, to content that combines aspiration with pragmatism, to humor that reflects Nigerian cultural identity, and to information that is genuinely useful.
Instagram captions for Nigerian audiences have a distinct structure that performs consistently well. They start with a hook — a question, a bold statement, a relatable observation, or a startling fact — that appears before the "read more" cutoff and compels the user to expand the caption. Then they develop the main content — a story, a piece of information, a behind-the-scenes observation, or a piece of value. They close with a clear, specific call to action: a question that invites comments, an instruction to save the post, a direction to click the link in bio, or an invitation to share.
Claude writes all of this — but it needs you to provide the specifics: what your business does, who your customer is, what the post is about (what product, service, event, or idea), and what you want the post to achieve. The more specific you are, the more useful Claude's output will be.
Facebook posts for Nigerian audiences are often longer and more conversational than Instagram — Nigerians on Facebook engage with storytelling, community discussion, and educational content. Claude can write long-form Facebook posts that build connection, share a customer success story in a compelling narrative format, or explain a complex topic (like property investment) in an engaging, accessible way.
This lesson provides ten complete worked examples — giving you the briefing used and Claude's output — covering product launches, customer testimonials, educational content, promotional offers, and community engagement posts across different Nigerian business categories.
What Students Will Learn
· Write Instagram captions with effective hooks, value-driven content, and specific calls to action
· Create Facebook posts that use storytelling and educational content to drive Nigerian audience engagement
· Adapt content tone and cultural references for Nigerian social media audiences specifically
· Write promotional content that sells without being aggressively salesy
· Generate content variations so you are never using the same phrasing repeatedly
· Develop captions in both formal English and Pidgin for different audience segments
Lesson Requirements
· A working Claude account
· An Instagram or Facebook business account
· Specific knowledge of your products, services, and customers
· Completion of the strategy section

Lesson 4 LinkedIn Content for Nigerian Professionals and B2B Businesses
Level: Intermediate
Short Description
Use Claude to establish a compelling LinkedIn presence — writing thought leadership posts, professional profile content, and B2B marketing content that positions you as an expert in your field.
Full Description
LinkedIn is fundamentally different from Instagram and Facebook — its audience is professional, the content that performs is expertise-demonstrating rather than entertainment-driven, and the purpose for most Nigerian professionals is either career advancement, B2B lead generation, or establishing professional authority.
LinkedIn content that performs for Nigerian professionals falls into five categories: personal professional stories (a career experience or lesson that others in your field can learn from), professional insights (your perspective on a trend, challenge, or development in your industry), how-to content (step-by-step guidance on something useful to people in your professional network), client results or case studies (demonstrating your capability through specific outcomes), and professional commentary (your informed perspective on news or developments affecting your industry).
Claude is exceptionally strong at writing LinkedIn content because LinkedIn rewards careful, nuanced writing — and that is exactly what Claude does best. To write a LinkedIn post with Claude, describe your professional background, the topic you want to post about, the specific insight or message you want to share, and who you are writing for (other professionals in your field, potential clients, employers). Claude will produce a post with the structure, depth, and tone that LinkedIn rewards.
For Nigerian professionals in particular, there is significant advantage available in LinkedIn because most of the competition is posting generic content. A Nigerian cybersecurity professional who consistently posts specific, insightful content about Nigerian financial sector cybersecurity challenges will stand out dramatically in a relatively uncrowded space.
Your LinkedIn profile itself is also critical — it is your professional landing page. Claude can optimize your headline, write a compelling About summary, strengthen your experience descriptions, and help you present your professional story in a way that attracts the right opportunities.
What Students Will Learn
· Identify which of the five LinkedIn content types is most appropriate for your professional goals
· Write thought leadership posts that demonstrate genuine expertise in your Nigerian professional field
· Develop case studies and client result posts that are compelling without oversharing confidential information
· Optimize your LinkedIn headline and About section with Claude for maximum professional impact
· Build a LinkedIn posting plan that is sustainable for a busy Nigerian professional
· Use LinkedIn content to generate B2B enquiries and professional opportunities
Lesson Requirements
· A working Claude account
· A LinkedIn account (or intent to create one)
· Specific professional expertise or experience to share
· Completion of previous lessons in this module

Lesson 5 WhatsApp Business Content and Broadcast Strategies
Level: Beginner
Short Description
Master WhatsApp Business as a marketing and customer engagement tool — using Claude to write broadcast messages, automated responses, and promotional content that drives real sales results.
Full Description
WhatsApp is where most Nigerian business communication actually happens — and WhatsApp Business turns this personal communication channel into a powerful, free marketing tool. Most Nigerian businesses using WhatsApp Business are not using it to its potential. This lesson changes that.
WhatsApp Business allows you to create a business profile with your name, description, address, email, and website, set up a catalogue of your products or services, create automated Greeting Messages (sent when someone contacts you for the first time), Away Messages (sent when you are not available), and Quick Replies (pre-written responses to common questions), and send Broadcast Messages to all your opted-in contacts simultaneously.
Broadcast messages are the WhatsApp equivalent of an email newsletter — a single message sent to many contacts individually (unlike group messages, broadcast recipients receive the message as if you sent it to them personally). Effective WhatsApp broadcasts are personal, brief, clear, and relevant. Claude can write broadcast messages for any occasion: product launches, seasonal promotions, special offers, event announcements, useful tips, and customer updates.
The most important rule of WhatsApp broadcasting is relevance — only send messages that the recipient will find genuinely useful or interesting. An overly aggressive or irrelevant broadcasting approach causes people to block you, which is the opposite of your goal. Claude can help you think through the right frequency, the right content mix, and the right tone for your specific customer base.
Claude also helps you write your business description, product catalogue descriptions, automated response messages, and Quick Replies — all the written elements of WhatsApp Business that most people set up poorly or not at all. This lesson walks through the complete WhatsApp Business setup from a content perspective.
What Students Will Learn
· Write an effective WhatsApp Business profile description and product/service catalogue entries
· Set up Greeting Messages, Away Messages, and Quick Replies using Claude-written content
· Create broadcast messages for product launches, promotions, and seasonal campaigns
· Determine the right frequency and content mix for your WhatsApp broadcast list
· Write broadcast messages in the personal, conversational tone that works on WhatsApp
· Develop a WhatsApp customer support script using Claude for common enquiry types
Lesson Requirements
· A working Claude account
· WhatsApp Business app installed on a business phone number
· A list of customer or prospect contacts (or a plan to build one)
· No marketing background required

SECTION 3 SOCIAL MEDIA RESEARCH AND PERFORMANCE ADVISORY
Use Claude to research what works in your industry, analyze competitors, interpret your performance data, and continuously improve your social media results.
Lesson 6 Researching Your Industry's Social Media Landscape
Level: Intermediate
Short Description
Use Claude to research how Nigerian competitors and industry leaders use social media — extracting intelligence about what works, what your audience wants, and where the opportunities are.
Full Description
Understanding how your industry uses social media gives you a significant advantage. Knowing what your competitors do well (to emulate), what they do poorly (an opportunity to differentiate), what your audience engages with most, and what content gaps exist in your category allows you to enter the social media space with a strategic advantage rather than guessing.
Claude can research the social media landscape of any Nigerian industry and provide structured intelligence on the key players and their social media approaches, the content types and topics that get the most engagement in your category, the tone and positioning that dominates the category (and whether there is an opportunity to differentiate), common customer questions and objections that appear in comments and posts, and content opportunities that no one in your category is exploiting.
For example, if you run a Nigerian HR consultancy, Claude can research what HR consultancies in Nigeria post on LinkedIn, what topics get the most engagement, what gaps exist (perhaps nobody is posting practical content about Nigeria's specific labour law challenges), and what a differentiated LinkedIn presence could look like for your firm.
This research translates directly into a more effective content strategy — one informed by actual industry intelligence rather than assumptions. Combined with the content creation skills from the previous section, this competitive intelligence capability makes you a significantly more sophisticated social media operator than most Nigerian businesses.
What Students Will Learn
· Research the social media landscape of any Nigerian industry using Claude
· Identify what content types and topics generate most engagement in your category
· Analyze competitor social media approaches for learnable insights and differentiation opportunities
· Identify content gaps and untapped opportunities in your industry's social media space
· Translate social media research insights into specific content strategy adjustments
· Monitor evolving social media trends relevant to your industry using Claude
Lesson Requirements
· A working Claude account
· A specific industry to research
· Completion of the strategy and content creation sections in this module
· Basic familiarity with your own industry and competitive landscape
